Filmmaker Brett Morgen discovered the archival material while working on his 2022 Bowie documentary, Moonage Daydream. The footage captures the singer during a defining period of his career, performing music associated with his influential Berlin era.

Unlike a traditional concert film, Stage will combine large screens, transparent LED displays, surround sound, and theatrical lighting to create an immersive performance environment.

The project aims to bring audiences closer to Bowie’s original live performances without using a hologram or recreating the singer through artificial intelligence.

Following its Berlin debut, the experience is expected to travel internationally, offering longtime fans and new listeners another opportunity to experience Bowie’s musical legacy.

Released October 16, the eight-track project debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Americana/Folk Albums charts. It also entered the Billboard 200 at No. 2, earning 65,000 equivalent album units in its opening week.

The results mark Bryan’s fifth project to reach No. 1 across all three genre-specific album charts, according to Billboard.
