A study from Australia explored the pros and cons of leaving a regular job to pursue a passion. “These workers are after feelings of accomplishment, a life of virtue and greater meaning in life,” study author Marian Makkar said. Researchers followed snowsports instructors over the course of 10.5 years, and found that some preferred to participate in their sport more often even if it meant making less money. People work unconventional jobs to escape from drudgery, and escape to something: A life centered around passion. However, this choice comes with unique demands, like strained, unstable relationships; balancing work with enjoyment of the activity; and financial insecurity. (Study Finds)
