Hey, I’m Jimmy Brooks, host of The Jimmy Brooks Experience, weekdays from 10 to 2 on 100.7 The Tiger!
I’m a Central, Louisiana kid who’s been hanging around this station since I was 17, back when it was still called Cat Country 100.7. I’ve been here long enough to remember when burning a CD was considered a skill.
I got my start as the overnight board op while I was at LSU, basically keeping the station on the air while everyone else was asleep. Before long, I moved into nights, hosting Cryin’, Lovin’ or Leavin’, where I took your requests, played your dedications, and probably helped a few of y’all survive a breakup or two.
In 2002, I packed up my little car and headed to Nashville to help launch an ’80s radio station. It was an incredible experience, but home kept calling. In 2004, I came back to Baton Rouge and jumped right back into middays on The Tiger. Not long after, I became Assistant Program Director, and in 2023, I got the opportunity I’d been working toward my whole career when I became Director of Programming.
I did step away from radio for a while to work in project management for advertising and marketing agencies, but I learned pretty quickly that radio isn’t just what I do. It’s who I am. Coming back felt like coming home.
When I’m not on the air, you’ll usually find me out at False River with family and friends, hopping on a plane to somewhere new, or searching for my next favorite candle or cologne. Everybody’s got their thing. Those just happen to be mine.
