Hey, I’m Jimmy Brooks — host of The Jimmy Brooks Experience, weekdays from 10 to 2 on 100.7 The Tiger!
I’m a Central, Louisiana kid who’s been hangin’ around this station since I was 17… back when it was still called Cat Country 100.7. Yeah, I’ve been here long enough to remember when you still had to actually burn a CD.
I started out as the overnight board op while going to LSU — basically babysitting the station when everyone else was asleep. Eventually, I made my way to the night show, hosting Cryin’, Lovin’ or Leavin’ — the late-night request and dedication show that a lot of y’all probably fell asleep to back in the day.
In 2002, I packed up my little car and headed to Nashville to help launch an 80’s station. It was an awesome ride, but by 2004, I felt that pull to come back home. So I did — right back here to The Tiger as your midday guy. A little later, I became Assistant Program Director, and then in 2023, I finally got to do what I’ve always dreamed of — take the reins as The Tiger’s Director of Programming.
I stepped away for a few years to work in project management for ad and marketing agencies, but truth is, radio’s in my blood. I had to come back.
These days, when I’m not in the studio, you’ll probably find me at False River with family and friends, or maybe at the airport — I’m all about catching flights, not long road trips. And yeah… I’ve got a bit of a thing for fancy candles and cologne. Don’t judge!
