A new study from the University of California found that chronic cannabis use, whether through smoking or consuming edibles, can have negative impacts on cardiovascular health. The findings suggest that long-term marijuana use can reduce blood vessel function in a manner similar to tobacco use. Researchers analyzed 55 seemingly healthy individuals who were regular cannabis users, consuming the substance at least three times a week for over a year. The study found that these participants had approximately half the blood vessel function compared to non-users, which is linked to an increased risk of heart attacks and high blood pressure. While the study noted that marijuana smokers exhibited changes in their blood that could damage the cells lining blood vessels, those who primarily used edibles did not show these same changes. (KTLA)
