A recent survey of 2,000 dog owners found that 42% said the best part of a trip is coming home to their pet. Forty percent constantly worry about their dog’s well-being when traveling, and 22% admit it can impact their enjoyment of the trip. On average, it takes just 53 minutes for respondents to start missing their pup after leaving, with 24% feeling this way as soon as they walk out the door. While traveling, the average respondent is distracted from “pet parent guilt” for only 1.5 hours at a time before missing their dog an average of 13 times per day. Three-quarters of dog owners said their summer travel plans depend on finding proper care for their pet. Respondents expressed concerns about their dog not getting enough walks, stimulation, or affection in their absence. This has led 19% to ask pet sitters to put their dog on the phone, and 17% to request video calls. (Talker Research)
