A new survey found 46% of U.S. employees have considered quitting because they feel emotionally exhausted or numb at work, with another 3% already having left. The study of 520 full-time workers at large companies revealed widespread workplace detachment beyond traditional burnout. When asked to describe their jobs in one word, employees most commonly chose “tired,” “surviving,” or “meh.” Only 8% said they’re thriving, while 38% reported “I’m just surviving” and 17% feel stuck. More than 63% feel disconnected from colleagues despite constant digital communication. When companies announce changes, 47% respond with numbness or indifference rather than engagement. Among struggling workers, 38% don’t seek help because “I don’t think it would make a difference,” suggesting widespread belief that workplace support systems are ineffective. (Story URL)
