Geopolitics took center stage at Davos this week as President Trump outlined a bold agenda covering everything from Arctic security to a new era of transatlantic trade.
The “Greenland Row”: Trump called for “immediate negotiations” for the U.S. to acquire Greenland. Crucially, he ruled out using military force, opting instead for economic and diplomatic pressure.
“The Golden Dome”: He framed the Greenland acquisition as a matter of global security, proposing it as a site for a new “missile defense shield” to protect NATO and the U.S. from strategic competitors.
Tariff Update: Following a high-stakes meeting with NATO’s Mark Rutte, Trump announced a “framework deal” and backed off his threat to impose 10% tariffs on European allies (originally set for Feb 1).
Energy Independence: The President doubled down on fossil fuels, criticizing “ineffective windmills” and framing domestic oil and gas production as the backbone of national sovereignty.
America First, Global Engine: Trump touted a “historic economic turnaround,” claiming that when the U.S. economy booms, it acts as the primary engine for the rest of the world.
