Deadmau5 is adopting one of the cats he helped support after making a $30,000 donation to an Ontario animal shelter.

The electronic music producer stepped in after 27 cats and kittens were rescued from a single home and brought into shelter care. Shelter officials said the animals needed exams, vaccinations, microchipping, and spay or neuter procedures before they could be placed in permanent homes.

The donation helped cover the cost of that care and brought new attention to the rescue effort. Afterward, Deadmau5 also became involved in naming the cats and encouraging fans to follow their progress.

One of those cats will now have a home with him. The adoption adds a personal turn to a story that began with a public appeal for help from a shelter facing unexpected costs.

For the remaining cats, the focus is still on medical care, recovery, and finding safe homes. The case shows how one donation can help a shelter handle an urgent rescue while also drawing more people toward adoption.
