Friends, relatives, collaborators, and fans gathered Saturday at the Quarry Amphitheater in Santa Cruz, California, for a public celebration honoring Oliver Tree’s life and career. The memorial took place in the city where the musician was raised and reflected the unconventional humor and visual style that shaped his public image.

During the July 25 ceremony, speakers including Diplo and Logan Paul shared personal memories of Tree, balancing emotional tributes with jokes that matched his playful personality. The event also featured mannequins styled in his familiar clothing, sunglasses and bowl-cut hairstyle.

Tree, known for songs including Life Goes On, Miss You and Alien Boy, died at age 32 in a helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro. Five other people were also killed in the crash.

His family has announced plans to continue his support for emerging creators through Dr. Oliver Tree’s Extremely Epic Art Grant for Baby Geniuses. The foundation is expected to provide assistance to young artists working across music, film, installation and performance art, extending Tree’s creative legacy beyond his recordings.
