International travelers flying to the United States will face a new health screening requirement beginning November 3, 2026, as federal officials strengthen measures to prevent the spread of Ebola.

According to Reuters, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will require all U.S.-bound air passengers to confirm they have not visited the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) during the previous 21 days. Travelers must submit a signed declaration electronically or on paper before boarding.

The new requirement follows restrictions introduced earlier this year after an Ebola outbreak in the DRC. Those measures prevent travelers who recently visited the country, including U.S. citizens, from boarding commercial flights to the United States.

Additional entry restrictions apply to certain foreign nationals who recently traveled to Uganda or South Sudan.

The outbreak involves the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola. African health authorities have confirmed approximately 4,700 deaths linked to the outbreak.

The CDC says no related Ebola cases have been identified in the United States.

Airlines are receiving instructions on implementing the new declaration procedures.
