My Chemical Romance has brought together Billie Eilish, Phoebe Bridgers, and several notable creative figures for a new animated short film titled Prelude to the End.
Released on October 29, 2026, the project was created in collaboration with visual artist Lauren Tsai as part of the band’s 20th anniversary celebrations for their landmark album The Black Parade.
The film follows Astrid, a student at a New England boarding school who enters a mysterious world while searching for her missing sketchbook.
Phoebe Bridgers voices Astrid’s sister, while Billie Eilish plays her close friend. Video game creator Hideo Kojima voices the Teacher, and actor John C. McGinley portrays the Dean.
The soundtrack features music from The Black Parade, alongside a classical composition by Pascal Dusapin.
The release also connects with My Chemical Romance’s anniversary activities, including a special album reissue and two Hollywood Bowl concerts in Los Angeles on October 30 and 31.
The animated project adds another creative element to the band’s celebration of one of its most recognizable albums.
