A new study from Cornell University suggests that AI is making everyone sound “more American.” Researchers found that Indian users using predictive text are pushed toward more western “writing patterns.” When Indian writers described biryani without the use of AI, they included regional details and specifics. However, when using AI, cultural specifics disappeared, instead replaced by generic descriptors like “rich” and “flavorful.” “Use of AI in writing could lead to cultural stereotyping and language homogenization,” Aditya Vashistha said. “People start writing similarly to others, and that’s not what we want.” (Study Finds)
